Boards & Commissions

BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
It is the Mission of the Beautification Commission to promote the beautification of residential and commercial properties within the community and to promote the use and care of trees throughout the Village and maintain our Tree City USA Designation.

CLERY COMMISSION
This is the commission of ministers and spiritual advisors. They are active with social outreach throughout the Village.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION
Works to maintain positive relations among all persons living and working within the Village of Hazel Crest. Also hosts a variety of events and projects, including a Holiday Giving Tree for local children in need.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
Unite shareholders within the community for the purpose of creating and supporting jobs, businesses and institutions that positively impact the region.

FINANCE COMMISSION
The finance committee reviews the financial condition of the village, discusses, and make recommendations to the board of trustees on short and long-term strategies for revenue enhancements and cost savings. The committee reviews and makes recommendations to the board of trustees regarding investment policies & recommends to the board of trustee’s availability of state, federal and local grants, loans, guarantees or other forms of assistance. Lastly The finance committee studies and makes general recommendations regarding the village's financial position, policies, and practices & makes recommendations to the board of trustees on any proposals regarding long-term financing or bond issues.

FIRE & POLICE COMMISSION
Tests, appoints, and handles general disciplinary matters, suspends, and dismisses personnel within the Village’s Police and Fire Departments.


OPEN LANDS COMMISSION
Works to develop, improve and beautify the Village’s Open Lands areas.

PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
Monitors and updates the Comprehensive Development Planning and Zoning ordinances for the Village and conducts public hearings on zoning classifications and variances.

SENIOR COMMISSION
Hosts senior activities and tracks programs offered by the private sector and townships, acts as a broker of information to residents.

VETERANS COMMISSION
Plans activities and programs in honor of the veterans; serves to advocate on behalf of residents who have served in the United States Military.

YOUTH COMMISSION
Is aligned with family in supporting our youth. The intent is to bridge the gap between Village of Hazel Crest and its younger residents through social activities, team building events, and community service.
