IRS Scam Alert
Be alert for unsolicited calls from persons claiming to be an IRS official and threatening arrest, license revocation and other penalties. Scammers may alter caller ID numbers to appear legitimate and use aggressive and intimidating tactics to convince victims to send money.
The IRS will never:
-Demand immediate payment;
-Deny you an opportunity to appeal the amount owed;
-Ask for a credit card number;
-Require a specific payment method;
-Threaten to bring in local law enforcement; or
-Threaten to have you immediately arrested
If you receive a call of this nature hang up immediately, do not give out any personal information. Report the incident at www.irs.gov
