This mission is to be accomplished through the well-regulated efforts of a highly trained, dedicated, and conscientious group of individuals employed for this purpose. Message from the Chief

It is my goal for the Hazel Crest Police Department to provide the best service to our community as possible. The foundation of achieving this goal has to be through relationships. We will constantly seek to develop the best relationship that we possibly can with all citizens. Inclusion of the community is essential to a healthy working relationship that will allow us all to keep the community of Hazel Crest safe and functioning at its highest capacity. That cohesive relationship is going to best allow us as a police department to meet the needs of the citizens that we serve, and it will also allow for a true partnership with all members of the Hazel Crest community to flourish. It is truly a blessing, and my honor, to serve the officers of the Hazel Crest Police Department and especially the citizens of the Village of Hazel Crest.

Community Policing Division

The Hazel Crest Police Department has created a Community Policing Division. The new division will be overseen by a Deputy Chief. It will also have a full-time officer assigned, along with our existing Community Service Officer. The division will be based out of that building, and will be equipped to provide a variety of services to the community from that location.

The Community Policing Division will be responsible for many things, many which are already in existence, but the new charge of the division will be the expansion of programs. Implementation of programs for all members of the community allow us to provide information and services that will help the community as a whole.

The Community Policing Division recently completed its first program since being formed. The “Senior Citizens Police Academy” was a 6-week program that covered many aspects of law enforcement and public safety. The program culminated in a graduation for the participants. The guest speaker at the graduation was Judge D. Renee Jackson.

The Hazel Crest Police Department will be hosting a Citizen Police Academy. The academy will be held on Wednesday nights from 7pm to 9pm at the Village Hall (3000 W. 170th Place). Classes will start January 10, 2018 and run through February 14, 2018. The Citizens Police Academy is open to all Village residents, business owners, and employees.

The six week hands-on academy will give participants a look into the inner workings of Law Enforcement.

The class is FREE!!

Zone Meetings

We have placed an increased emphasis on our Zone Meetings. Zone Meetings are our chance to let you know what is going on specifically in your area of town. It is a chance for you to address concerns that you have within the community directly with a member of our command staff. The Community Policing Division is responsible for conducting all Zone Meetings and will cover various subject matter that is pertinent to you and the community in general. REMEMBER, we cannot address your wants and needs if we don’t know what they are. Please come to the Zone Meetings so that we can communicate. The success of any relationship is heavily dependent on communication, and the relationship between our department and the people that we serve is no different. We need your participation!

All zones (1, 2, & 3) meet on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm, in the Village Hall Board Room.

Don’t forget that you can also address any concerns that you may have through the Village of Hazel Crest App on your smart phone.

We will be utilizing this website and the Hazel Crest Police Department Facebook page to keep you informed. Please like our Facebook page.
